The long-time head coach of the Millsaps baseball team, Jim Page began his tenure in 1989. Page is an eight-time conference coach of the year and the 2013 South Region Coach of the Year. In 34 years at the helm, the Majors have posted an impressive 815-554-3, a winning percentage of .595.
His 34-year career in the Majors' dugout has included nine conference championships, eight NCAA regional berths and one NCAA College World Series appearance in 2013. He has been named the conference coach of the year eight times and was named the NCAA Division III South Region Coach of the Year in 2013. Page most recently was tabbed the SAA Coach of the Year in 2022.
Following the 2022 season, Coach Page sat 11th among active NCAA Division III coaches, and 36th on the all-time wins list. Around the Magnolia State, Page was ranked 5th all-time in career collegiate baseball coaching wins.
Page tallied his 800th win against Eureka College on Feb. 26, 2022. He picked up career win number 750 with a doubleheader sweep of Rhodes College on March 3, 2018. Prior to that, Page earned his 700th career win at the 2015 South Regional with a 7-6 win over Whitworth College.
His 2013 team made the College World Series for the first time in school history and finished the season ranked eighth in the nation. On April 14, 2009 his Majors became the first ever program in Millsaps’ history to be ranked number one in the nation after starting the season 19-2.
In the early 1990s, his teams claimed a record five consecutive conference championships from 1990-94 and their first two NCAA regional appearances in the 1995-96 seasons. The 1996 team also led the nation in doubles and finished ranked 19th in the country.
Page played his college ball at Millsaps from 1981-85 under head coach Tommy Ranager, who in turn, was elected into the Millsaps Hall of Fame in 1998 alongside Page. Page not only earned MVP honors his sophomore and senior seasons, but was named team captain as well. In Page’s senior season, he hit a blistering .487 from the plate, a record that still stands today.
During his tenure, he has coached 30 All-South Region players, 11 Conference Players of the Year, 10 American Baseball Coaches’ All-Americans, seven D3baseball All-Americans and five conference pitchers of the Year. In total, eight of his players have gone on to play professionally.
Page and his wife Cindy have two daughters, both Millsaps graduates, Caitlyn and Jamie Blair, along with two sons, Keaton and Case.
